The "World's Best School Prizes" program, held since 2022 to highlight schools carrying out successful work worldwide, evaluates schools in 5 categories: "Community Collaboration", "Environmental Action", "Innovation", "Overcoming Adversity", and "Supporting Healthy Lives".
Since its establishment in 2017 as the country's first renewable energy high school, Cezeri Green Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School has undertaken activities such as the Energy Detective Project, integration of renewable energy systems into educational processes, students collecting and analyzing data on real energy systems, carbon footprint reduction efforts, and energy efficiency applications. This year, the school applied to the award program in the "Environmental Action" category.
Selected among thousands of applications and ranking among the top 10 schools in its category, Cezeri Green Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School has earned the chance to represent Türkiye internationally by reaching the finals.
The school aims to become first in its category with the support to be given in the voting, within the scope of the award program where international public voting is as effective as jury evaluation.
School Principal İlker Erkmen stated that in addition to education-focused activities, they carry out programs that instill environmental awareness in students.
Emphasizing that they carry out various studies on environmental awareness with both early age groups and adults, Erkmen explained that they applied for the "World's Best School Prizes" award with the projects they implemented.
Noting that thousands of schools from many regions of the world applied to the competition, Erkmen continued:
"We applied in the 'Environmental Action' category because we are a renewable energy school, a thematic school. All the activities we do in this school are actually very suitable for this category. In this sense, we brought together all the work we did and made our application. They listened to our work in detail. As a result, the jury made a decision, and we were among the top 10 schools that reached the finals."
Erkmen stated that within the scope of the evaluation, the jury examined the schools and their work, and that apart from this, a public vote continues online, and the winner will be selected as a result of the public vote.
Within the scope of the public voting for the T4 Education "World's Best School Prizes" final, which will continue until the end of October, votes for Cezeri Green Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School can be cast at applications.worldsbestschool.org/public-vote-26.
